Class (37) : IC3 Computer Fundamentals Online Test: Friday 13/02/09 Friday the 13th and all but what the hay we all know that bad luck is down to stupidy, I mean come on just look at my face. Ah but here we are and here yee thought you’d never be but I did ya see. You’ve done it, so now you finish it. It was never about me, always about you. What you had little of, you now have tons of, you grew in it, no not my crapulance, your confidance. I saw it change only slowly at first and then it became easier for you, so much so that you ran with it like a natural, not because it was new but because along the way to getting here we forgot. It was a bike we had as a child, your now back in the seat and by God you make me proud to have met you. All of you, there is no class without you. I will miss you and thank you very very much for your time

Class (29) Blog on Ballyfermot.ie (1) Friday 16/01/09: Thats right this is the chance you’ve been waiting for , to get your opinion onto a website that is getting over 100,000 hits a week, smashing! And there will be numerous resits too, horray for keeping me busy!
Class (28) Information and Communications (3) Monday 12/01/09: Test 7.2 and everybody past easily, so if you were there then you got it and if you’ve attended all 7 ECDL exams then you’ve gained your ECDL cert, so, congradulations are in order! well done…but on the other hand if you did not attend all of your exams they I will have to run all of these on friday and this will take a lot of administration so I would ask you to make a special effort to be here on friday too. Exams will start at 12.00am and where finished when we’re finished. Be good.
Class (27) Information and Communications (2) Friday 09/01/09: Today, ahem, and no questions there missus, yes I said today is a good day because today we sign up for a ballyfermot.ie email account and today we setup outlook the business version using the said email account, just for the crack. And if your not in then you will have to do this on the exam day which is Monday 12/01/09 as if your nerves for the final ECDL exam werent bad enough eh? Oh yeah and the multiple choice question too must happen today or else!
Class (26) Information and Communications (1) Monday 05/01/09:Yes yes I Know, I was sick and you got off early for Christmas, win win for you I recon, by the by I will be starting Class 26 ,for show hommies ,on 05/01/09 at 9.30am is case of post Christmas confusion and maybe some delusion too? Be there, yes and you too, ta love. Internet the history of and terminology for the (lots and lots of) exam multiple choice questions, you know you want to, oh yes you do! Okay so how did we do up to page 27 thats how, nice. Thanks to the ten that turned up and we’ll have fun signing up for our ballyfermot.ie email account and setting it up in Outlook and having a look at all of the multiple choice questions, horray!
Class (25) Access (2) Friday 12/12/08: I know this means that were off on Monday 08/12/08 (by concensus), because of the primary schools being shut because of a holy day but its not a day off for me I tells ya. Class 2 will deal with forms, reports and queries horray! And for your sins we will start blogging on the 19/12/08 and start our discussion Forums on the 22/12/08 which will have the next prizes of two laptop to be won allocated to it on www.ballyfermot.ie
Class (24) Access (1) Friday 05/12/08: Access the start of the most valuable of all of the modules as for paid work, so lets find out why. Dont miss the first lesson, I mean it. Horray for I mean it! We covered all of the basic theory of databases including all of the terms expected on the basic and tables in the multiple choice questions on the exam. We’ve covered so far the above plus table creation, data types and field properties, record entry, table relationships, referential integrity, adding fields and deleting records.
Class (23) IT Theory (2) Monday 01/12/08: Questions 105-140 and then the exam 27 out of 36 (75%) questions needed so study up on to pass so no pressure then horray! I think just by looking at the exam in progress that you’ve all got a good chance of passing, so well done everybody.
Class (22) IT Theory (1) Friday 28/11/08: Start or a new module: don’t miss it it could be fast and furious, oh yeah I cant confirm this yet as I write this on Monday the 24th and the examiner is not in but everybody looked very good in the test today and your answers looked promising too. So chins up, horray! Well done everybody for the good work today from question 1-104 and only 36 left which means that we have an exam on Monday Horray!
Class (21) File Management (3) Monday 24/11/08: Exam day start of Week 11 and exam 5 so half way through and only 5 more to go, blink and you’ll miss it. ALSO if you’ve being skipping classes with no phone calls for me then colour me not impressed, don’t miss it if you really need it. You know , i’m looking forward to seeing you on Monday, so study.
Class (20) File Management (2) Friday 21/11/08:Pages 44 - till as many as we can manage and maybe a mock thrown in for good measure. What do you recon? And we did just that didn’t we. P44 - 112 and everything with practicle on the spot examples and excercises with the 36 multiple choice questionaire thrown in. Though going but we can concentrate on the exam on Monday now. Horray for us
Class (19) File Management (1) Monday 17/11/08: First class for module 2, ECDL again, Horray Pages 1 - 44 with plenty of practicle examples and I’ve found the latest version of the Wonderland Demo online for anybody wanting to install / uninstall in record time, fantastic. no really.
Class (18) IC3 (6) Key Applications (5) Monday 10/11/08: Last ten pages and Registration for IQ systems exams and finally the exam, Key Applications 2005, 45 minutes and 45 questions multiple choice, drag and drop and practicle preform the action questions. If you dont know a question then you can skip it and review it at the end, you will know straight away wether you pass or fail 800+ and your a winner out of 1000. Should you fail there is one resit aloud send to an email address. But a €65 charge if you wish to repeat two or more.
Class (17) IC3 (5) Key Applications (5) Friday 07/11/08: KA Excel: Must kill excel, before it kill us blearrghh!!! We will start Powerpoint today or else!
, Yes we did just that and now we’ve covered pages 153-194, so that means were 9 pages from the exam, which incidentally on monday, Horray for exams and for people who dont read my blog postings.
Class (16) IC3 (4) Key Applications (4) Monday 03/11/08: KA Excel continued horray! P126- 153 and it was tough going, yikes!, no really. We shall endevour to finish this Key Applications before its the end of us all, horray!

Class (13) IC3 (1) Key Applications (1)Monday 20/10/08 IC3 Starts: First looks and a how to navigate to www.prodigy.iewhere to click “quick Links” and then “Benchmark and Mentor Login” Login with our username and top secret password and choose the third option the Key Applications Benchmarking and choose number 1 in the list and play the question to start, to continue all you have to do is to find the subfolder marked as incomplete and then the question you finished on and click play to continue on the next new untried question, not the last complete one. Well done to all who enjoyed the benchmarking in class, very impressed me. Just dont forget that the manuals are the property on the Ballyfermot IT Centre and you are required to replace them if lost or damaged, Everybody took one home today, make sure that you bring them in every class.Resits on Thursday see below!

Class (11) Powerpoint (2) Monday 13/10/08:Advanced crap as promised. All about Masterslides, Moving, coping and deleting objects, pictures and text in the same slideshows and in between open slideshows, drawing objects, rotate or flip horizontally or vertically, edit placeholder text, created and edit charts, edit organisational charts, apply custom design templates from folder, Insert automatically updating date/time or fixed date. Move or paste slides between open slideshows. Print as handouts 6 per page. And everything esle i’ve forgotten to mention
class (10) Powerpoint (1) Friday 10/10/06 9.30am-1.00pm Page 3 top and page 9 i think (I’m doing this from memory) and Pages 23 up to page 40 are very important and a very well done to all of the passe’s and high rollers in the re-sits, much respect, much progress and its starting to click, well done! Newsflash:With the examiner on holidays i exspect the exams to be marked on Wednesday morning ish maybe if were lucky. I expect some re-sits from the exam form, i’d say 6 people at least but then i’m a realist. Class 9 Monday Excel (3) Exam 06-10-08: Newsflash We must copy move or copy sheets between workbooks and printing setups and options plus revision of as many of the mocks as possible and your exam will start at 12 O Clock at the very latest. Be ready, Study and be well
Class 8 Excel (2) Friday 03-10-08: Page 40 - 86 , Simple operators in simple arithmitic formulas (for 2 cells only)/ * - + for = that cell then *operator* andthat cell for simple formulae, Absolute references with the dollar dollar man, Autosum*Sigma* button, function menu with Average, Min, Max and Count, logical IF, percent styles, autofilling formulae , increase and decrease decimal, currency , dates, comma and format cells , merge and centre, copy and pasting between worksheets, normal word style formating andalignments, outside borders , filing in cell background colours and using the format painter magic paint brush, creating Charts and editing charts, plus revision of everything from previous class during the lesson adlib. Class 7 Excel (1) Monday 29-09-08: Yes its a brand new day, Pages 1- 40 in the book, exam critical P(ages) and Par(agraphs) P1 Par 1 *cough* not word, P6 Par last 2, P7 all, P8 top but its the PHic3 network drive, P9 Bottom 2 Par, P10 all *help* for you here, P11 all, P12 bottom amdnearly all P13, P15 all, P16 except top, P18 top, P19 top,P20-21-22-23-24-25 all, p26+ 27 are handy to know, P28 bottom P29. 30 +31 allP32 bottom, P34 useful in places, P35 bottom, P36-37-38-39 for next class, P40 with basic aritmitic formulaes =A2+B2 ( know how to select a cells and cell ranges, autofill lists, data and formulae) Practice study and be ready.

Class 5: Word (5, Exam)Monday 22-09-08: Mail Merge, but the easy way, registration for the ECDLvia weblinkeddocument, Mock test on screen with everybody upfront, and how spooky is this Exam 3.2 I must by skygick. Those who missed the class will have to re-sit the test, no really. Dont worry about your test results, if you dont think you did so well there are resits available after the Friday OCT 3rd class we’ll have a group session together, see how confidant I am about you all. If you turn up you will be looked after, be brave my little ones.
Class 4: Word (4)Friday 19-09-08 : Very very long (snore) Recap of previous class , customizing bullets and numbers, copy and paste text from this website and automatically hyphenate document, insert page breaks, using soft returns in a numbered list, left and right indents, special indents, hanging, first line and single, Paragraph spacing, insert Tabs, no bloody time for tabs with leaders (Sob), headers and footers, fields, outside border and cell shading. Print preview, page orientation, page setup, changing to a4 paper, Tabs, default tabs, When Tables Attack: inserting, Navigating, fields, adding columns and rows, deleting columns and rows,2&1/4 pt borders and text and paragraph shading, adding numbered list to cells, splitting tables (merging cells needs to be done, ahem), table properties, colum widths and row heights, inserting pictures from clipart and from file (folder), selecting images, formatting picture properties, layout and EXACT size, copying and cutting images also . Read up to page 60 i think (up to mail merge description) , cant remember but if you where there you’d know anyway and if you weren’t then read up to page 100 and something, that’ll learn ya! Har der har!! to try and finish the manual off dont miss it! Selecting text with the mouse, moving cursor, one word , a paragraph, select all, a line with margin select and a number of lines, a bulleted list, column select, select all, copy and paste, cut and paste, format painter, edit text, Common formats, font styles, font size, alignments, font colour, bold italic underline, Format fonts , Special formats, highlighter , apply styles, super and subscript, format painter, Folders (explorer) view again, Applying permission to my documents, Automatically hyphenate ducuments, copy and paste from Internet Explorer into a new document, Hard returns andsoft returns with show hide, Find and replace, Deleting text and moving text, changing the dictionary from the status bar. Class 1: Word (1) Monday 08-09-08 :Welcome meeting, Course Registration, About you session, Introduction to Hardware, Networking theory with Login dialogue box and the GUI (Graphical User Interface) on the Desktop. Mouse and seating Ergonomics, Start Menu functions, Icons, Subfolders and submenus. Opening Microsoft Word, customising the toolbars and Saving a document to the PHIC3 networked drive. Starting the Internet explorer customising the start options and choosing the search engine defaults. Changing the Browser Homepage to Google.ie and finding the Blog (web Log) “Ballyfermot Blogger” by using Google to view this page. And finally shutting down the PC using the start menu.
