ECDL & IC3 Class 09

Welcome to your ECDL and IC3 class record that started on 23/02/09, 9.30-1.00pm, every class will recorded here by me Philip Hickey and should you need to remind yourself as to what we covered or need to catch up on a missed class then look for it here. This will including manual page references and main subjects covered so that at least your up to date. Class 15: IC3 Key Apps(3) Friday 01-05-09: We will finish off word from the manual and start excel, Yippee I can hear almost all of you say.

Class 14: IC3 Key Apps(2) Monday 27-04-09: We shall cover all the Key Apps 87 questions on screen first thing and we shall continue on with the book. Well that was the plan anyway, what we managed was questions 2 - 64 on screen, with the balance to follow soon and pages 84-99 from the book. The best news of the day was letting you go home at 12.30pm or so I’ve been told.

Class 14: IC3 Key Apps(1) Friday 25-04-09: Introduction to the IC3 and resourses includng the banchmark and mentor login here https://certprep.certiport.com/Default.aspx with your usernames and passwords, my pathway and IC3 Key Applications benchmark (white one #20) and assessing ourselves on 187 typical exam type questions. If Fiona or Elia are reading this then please email me for you usernames and passwords at phickey@ballyfermotitcentre.com . Thank you. Also we’ve covered pages 69-82 with the quick quiz on 83 for monday.

Class 13: Powerpoint(3) Monday 04-04-09: Powerpoint exam today  and then your off for two weeks of classes which means your back on the 24th of April. Happy holidays.

Class 12: Powerpoint(2) Friday 03-04-09: We covered p52- 96  today whoo… thats a lot too and we started mock 6.1

Class 11: Powerpoint(1) Monday 30-03-09: We’ve got three classes before a two week break so we must complete this module in 3 classes so you can’t afford to miss even one. We covered p1-52 today whoo… thats a lot .

Class 10: Excel(4) Friday 27-03-09: Exam Day Test 4.* Be prepared, be there and be good. Well done to the 11 people who sat there exam today and I did skip the =count question, so did you get it?

Class 9: Excel(3) Monday 23-03-09: Editing, Formatting, Charts and Printing options. P 57- finish I hope (we did) and your exam will be on Friday.

Class 8: Excel(2) Friday 20-03-09: Formulae and Word resits: Yes a quick review on the basics and forumlae lots of the blighters simple ones and functions to boot . If your resiting, be ready or you’ll be wasting an oppertunity. We also covered pages 31-56 including all of the formulae and qestions likely to appear in the exam

Class 7: Excel(1) Monday 16-03-09: Results and Excel Start: Introduction to all about the basics in excel, yes if you missed it then there may be trouble ahead. Manual pages 1-30 also lots still to learn. Just remember white-cross select and black-cross copy/autofill

Class 6: Word (6) Friday 13-03-09: Test 3.3  Well done to all who passed of best of luck for the re-sits if you didn’t

Class 5: Word (5) Monday 09-03-09: Mock test  and maybe even a surprise! Horray I like surprises. Enjoy your weekend.

Class 4: Word (4) Friday 06-03-09: Tables, objects and mail merge don’t miss this one ;-). Yes and it was unmissable wasn’t it. Think about it, the easiest way to mail merge bar none, all about objects and printing out documents P51-94 Manual finished. BTW there is more, much more on mail merge in the manual but do me a favour and read it after the exam. =:-[

Class 3: Word (3) Monday 02-03-09 Starting on P31 Horray! not crazy me p31-p50 This is the most important chapter and contains the most questions in the exam, samples on page 49 and 50. Get these right and you’ll pass, if your finding it difficult then you must practice at home with the manual. Also bring your manual in with you too, don’t forget.  Also if your really struggling we can offer another place on a different easier course free gratis. Class 2: Word (2) Friday 27-02-09  more course registrations (big welcome to the two new sudents!) Starting word again, Word templates with file new, Saving word files as .dot (Templates) and .txt. Windows =rand(), show hide button, paragraph marks, zoom functions, inserting heart symbols from webdings, starting of the read through with the Manual with on the spot demonstrations, and do it yourself sessions : Pages 12 - 30  Page 13 bottom, P14 all, P15 all, P16 Par 1, P19 all, P20, p21 top p22-27 all, P28 bottom P30 all.

Class 1: Word (1) Monday 23-02-09 :Welcome meeting, Course Registration, Introduction to Hardware, Networking theory with Login dialogue box and the GUI (Graphical User Interface) on the Desktop. Mouse and seating Ergonomics, Start Menu functions, Icons, Subfolders and submenus. Opening Microsoft Word, Saving a document to the PHIC3 networked drive. Starting the Internet explorer and finding the Blog (web Log) “Ballyfermot Blogger” by using Google (On Ballyfermot.ie) viewing this page. And finally shutting down the PC using the start menu. Also up to page 12 (manual) switching between open documents.Exam critical parts in order found in the pages covered, P(ages) 3 Par(agraph) 1+2, P4/Par 1+2, P5 Par 2..&P6..&P7, P9 all ,but subsitute phic3 drive for the floppy A: drive, P10 all, P11 Top,
