“God is an Atheist, unless he believes in himself ”

After the “God, Evolution and Charles Darwin” debate has arisen again , in its infinite wisdom is a many facetted and twisted thing to ensure the Christianity gets another public wringing out. I digest that I, for once will sit on the fence and throw some interesting nays and yays into the mix. I mean come on, where are the forward and original thinkers in all this? Where’s the positive from the negative, theres just none, eh?
So without further ado, here goes, and we’ll let you decide…

The Yay’s

1. “My dear child, you must believe in God despite what the clergy tell you.” Benjamin Jowett
2. “I admire the Pope. I have a lot of respect for anyone who can tour without an album.” Rita Rudner.
3. ”Thank God I’m an atheist.” Luis Bunuel.
4. “If there were no God, there would be no atheists” Gilbert K. Chesterton
5. “God is good to the Irish, but no one else is; not even the Irish” Anon
6. “A key to the understanding of all religion is that a god’s idea of amusement is ‘Snakes and Ladders’ with greased rungs.” Terry Pratchett

The Nay’s:

1. “Going to church no more makes you a Christian than standing in a garage makes you a car. ”  Garrison Keillor
2. “More people are troubled by what is plain in Scripture than by what is obscure.” Essayist
3. “The missionaries go forth to Christianize the savages - as if the savages weren’t dangerous enough already.” Edward Abbey
4. “When did I realize I was God? Well, I was praying and I suddenly realized I was talking to myself.” Peter O’Toole.
5. “When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle. Then I realised that the Lord doesn’t work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me.” Emo Philips.
6. “When I told the people of Northern Ireland that I was an atheist, a woman in the audience stood up and said, ‘Yes, but is it the God of the Catholics or the God of the Protestants in whom you don’t believe?”  Quentin Crisp.

And I’ll finish it off, to quote you an original

“God is an Atheist, unless he believes in himself “ Philip Hickey

Why thank you my Dave Cooney friend, to by witty we must exacerbate the given situation through thoughtful intrinsic inward reflection leading to outward extrinsic laughter by decompiling the given serious scenario and transmutation into an infectious laugh and release of stress.
For an example of this watch this video of “Goat meets Electric fence” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6b-072VA4UA to understand the cause and effect

Have you read the quotes on atheism featured in this article on atheism ?

Yes I have and I thank you for the URL, and I think a key point is made here “active-faith adults donated twice as many dollars last year as did atheists and agnostics” so is it all really about money and control? I do think that Intelligence is the moderator of our free will and thoughts and it is free will that unbinds us from the chains of tyranny no matter what form they may polymorph into, to manifest themselves and place themselves above the rights of the people. The truth will set you free

Mr. Hickey,

Have you seen yet the serious butt kicking Irish atheists are enduring here: http://www.atheist.ie/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1882 It is like watching Samson slay a thousand heathens with the jawbone of an ass! :)

Dear Phil,

I am not a regular of your blog. I have a quick question. I just made another post to your blog. I don’t see it yet. Do you moderate your blog and I merely have to wait until the post is approved by a moderator?

Dear Phil,

It appears as if I ran into a technical glitch as far as a posts of mine to your blog. My apologies for my klunky computer. :) By the way, I do see now that you moderate your blog. It appears as if my post disappeared though down a internet black hole before it even made it to the moderation stage. :)

Here is what I wrote in a earlier post which apparently ran into a technical glitch:

Hi Mark,
Thank you for your comments and your patient in getting them live on the blog (Ahem) I think that your arguments on the above links are very intelligent and logical in presenting your ideas, but what i do find disconserting is that the “other forum poster” only seem to want to downplay and discourage an open discourse on a topic based on an any idea that is clearly stated in the website url http://www.atheist.ie/ and its reason for being. Disappointing that these free thinkers should turn on the “faithful” which leeds me too the following quote of yours “Down the end Chuck Norris writes that atheists are trying to use youtube to convert young minds to atheism” as if Atheism was a religion in itself to be converted to, yeah righty ho! Can you find out when the service is so I can grab a bundle of dogmatic papers?

Hey guys

Great forum - blogs.ballyfermot.ie, how did you promote your forum so good ?

This is a nice board but I struggled to find a good category for this.

I think this is the right category, but feel free to move this post if its in the wrong place

I spent forever looking on google, until I found this community - its quite small but looks fun to talk to.

Bye!

Not sure if you’re in the right place, blogs are not forums or the would have the same name right?
