The residents of Rossmore were delighted to launch their new Memorial Garden in California Hills on Friday 22nd August 2008.
The garden remembers the family, friends and neighbours of the area who have died.
Funded by Dublin City Council Ballyfermot Area Office, Community Development Section and Social Inclusion Unit, The Ballyfermot RAPID Programme and the Ballyfermot Environmental Group, this garden provided a great opportunity for the local people to be part of an integrated project. Apart from the funders help was received from the Ian O’Lone, Parks section and Mick Glennon, Road Maintenance section of Dublin City Council who provided old cobble lock stones from the streets of Dublin and removed spoil, Mark Doyle and the lads from The Ballyfermot Environmental Impact group who did all the core ground work and the people from Rossmore who did the planting.
Sandra Austin and Lisa O’Grady, Horticulturalists with Dublin City Councils Play Development Childrens Summer Gardening Project designed the garden with the participants.
