If you can dream it, you can do it.: Walt Disney

Childrens literature=a conspiracy

Here we have two classic stories in relation to childrens literature, Lewis carrols ‘Alice in Wonderland’ and L.Frank Baums ‘Wizard of Oz’. These two stories provide detailed acounts of fantasy worlds, when alice falls down a rabbit hole and when dorethy is whisked off to the magical land of oz. What our parents failed to explain while reading them to us is the hidden adult nature behind some of the meanings of these stories. Im taking a class in childrens literature in college and my fantasy world was crushed :(

HARSH TRUTH….

  • The reason Dorethy and her friends ‘fell asleep in the meadow of flowers’ is because they were drugged by the drug opium symbolised by the poppy flower. Also other people believe when the munchkins hand Dorethy a lollypop it represents the drug pushers of the world giving their people free samples.Last but not least The Wizard of Oz himself represents drugs by means of the word Oz in his name being an abbreviation of the word ounce which is of course how drugs were measured. You can imagine how i felt in my class,me being  a lover of fantasy and imaginary stories, being told a whole knew meaning behind my favourite story..

Aswel as the wizard of oz, Alice in wonderland also contains some hidden meanings(or so my lecturer says)

Apparently as Carrol was not a religious man he used many jokes about christianity within this story. In the story Alice comes across two parcels, one is a bottle sayin drink me, the other is a piece of cake saying eat me. carroll used this to display his views on this religion as if people are ordered around. There is also evidence that he experimented with drugs around the time of writing the story so all the information of alice’s images and hallutionations can be brought back to represent how carroll may have been feeling himself

Before I get carried away with fully ruining everybody’s love of these stories I don’t want to disencourage you to read them. They are fantastic stories and should be and will remain popular for decades to come.So….enjoy :)

  1. Please don’t become so disheartened at these common misconceptions, if you have an open mind and want a deeper, much richer understanding of these Literary Classics then please follow these links

The Wizard of OZ is regarded to be an esoteric Masterpiece
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alice_In_Wonderland
Alice in Wonderland is regarded as a Zen Masterpiece also but this website is a wonderful resource for you with plenty of good stuff
So if you want to keep the magic that really is hidden all around us in the world and before our very eyes then all you gotta do is follow the white rabbit just like Neo in the Matrix

I think these are fascinating facts. For me fantasy is more of a bore i do like the old tales of OZ and Wonderland. But to see the true meaning is truelly astonishing. You have made me see that fantasy when looked inward can be deeply meaningful and can have two sides for the reader. I mean how interesting is Wizard of OZ now that he is OZ the Drug man. I think that the wizard of Oz could be an amazing gangster/drug film with dorethy as the Wicked woman who leads the Addicts to the Wizard who will supply them with there antidote of life.

    Nice work

Thanks dave.Im glad to see I interested you in these two stories.Knowing the type of person you are your a deep thinker and like to delve into true meanings of things instead of just seeing them as they are.Although not so sure about the gangster drug movie, i think thats taking things way out of proportion.

  15. well.. i love the book… The song Money is very significant for me, which begins just as Dorothy enters Oz. This is the scene where she first encounters the Yellow Brick Road and the ruby slippers. In Baum’s book, the slippers were silver.

  18. Ah! Just reading your fantastic Blog. To think I have believed all those stories for over 50 years and I have looked at the films and read the stories over and over to my children & grandchildren . Our innocence was bliss

  19. jaynie

    Thanks for the comment kay,

I know tell me about it. At first when I began looking into deeper meanings I was sceptical because I didn’t believe there could be so many parrallel meanings to these innocent childrens stories…who knew.

  20. Keep working ,great job!

I think that people overlook things a little too much. We feel that we live in a world where, becuase of so many influences around us, everything has a negative input somewhere in it. We look for negativity, as if it is a game to find as much as we can. First there was the whole scandall on Disney movies, and how they hid many different things in there movies, then we moved onto music and now we have moved onto childrens stories. Just let the little children read or watch the movies, and move on with your lives. Thankyou.

  22. Thanks for this website its nice
